Social interaction in daycare learning

The adult and child relationship which occurs during a child's learning plays a very important role in the entire learning process.

Research has indicated that social participation is the main activity through which learning occurs. Children become more motivated to learn in an environment where social interaction is high as compared to one where it is done in isolation.

Parents and daycare teachers should therefore make a conscious effort to engage in age appropriate activities with their children, both to facilitate their learning as well as to encourage learning.

Kids employ a lot of mimicking and observation in their process of learning. Many key skills such as language skills and cognitive skills require a relatively high level of communication and interaction with adults. Communication therefore plays a very important role as it will lay the foundation for the child’s early learning abilities.
